Don't know if you've heard, but the RIAA doesn't think that the labels are making enough money off of digital sales, so they are lowering the payout to the artists from 13% to 9%, and Apple is trying to lower the payout to 4%. WOW!!
Continuing Independent artists on the rise for 2008? I'd bet my money on it.

Yeah, that's outrageous. The desperate moves of dying men. Could it be that they've started to realize that they actually NEED the artists?

How many more cliches can I cram in here? All kidding aside, it's becoming more and more of an option to manage your own music on all levels... not just writing and selling, but marketing, promoting, licensing... if you have the know-how and the time to make it happen (or a friend who LOVES managerial stuff) an artist really can made everything happen on his/her/their own.
